OHIO — A Bellefontaine man was arrested Saturday evening after a drug trafficking investigation led to the seizure of suspected narcotics, a firearm and cash, according to the Bellefontaine Police Department.
Police said officers conducted a traffic stop on a gray Land Rover at approximately 5:50 p.m. in the parking lot of the Campbell Landing Apartment Complex on East Sandusky Avenue.
The driver, identified as 38-year-old Carlos Briscoe, was the target of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation and was wanted on an outstanding felony arrest warrant.
Detectives with the Bellefontaine Police Department and the Logan County Sheriff’s Office participated in the operation. Authorities said Briscoe stopped the vehicle but was slow to comply with officers’ commands. K-9 Pyro was deployed, and Briscoe was taken into custody.
According to police, a search of Briscoe’s person uncovered a bag containing white pills and cash. Investigators said Briscoe also admitted to having cocaine concealed on his person, which officers recovered.
Police said Briscoe informed officers there was marijuana and a firearm inside the vehicle. After K-9 Pyro alerted to the odor of narcotics, officers conducted a search of the Land Rover and reportedly found additional cash, a loaded 1911 handgun and marijuana products.
Briscoe’s cell phone was also seized as part of the investigation.
At the same time, another team of officers executed a narcotics-related search warrant at Briscoe’s apartment within the Campbell Landing complex.
Briscoe was transported to the Logan County Jail and booked on the outstanding felony warrant. Police said additional charges related to the traffic stop and search warrant execution are pending.
