
ALABAMA — A routine traffic stop in Scottsboro resulted in the arrest of a Woodville man after officers allegedly found methamphetamine and synthetic marijuana during the encounter, according to the Scottsboro Police Department.
Police said officers stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation near Willow Street and Tupelo Pike at approximately 8:18 p.m. on May 30.
During the stop, officers identified the driver as 30-year-old Uriel Becerra Martinez of Woodville. Authorities said Martinez also had an active warrant through the Scottsboro Police Department.
After taking Martinez into custody, officers reportedly found about 3.3 grams of methamphetamine. Police said an additional search uncovered approximately 1.8 grams of suspected synthetic marijuana, commonly known as spice.
Martinez was initially taken to the Scottsboro City Jail for processing before being transferred to the Jackson County Jail.
He is charged with possession of a controlled substance involving methamphetamine and possession of a controlled substance involving synthetic marijuana.
