
NORTH CAROLINA — A Chapel Hill man is facing multiple charges after police said he carjacked two men at gunpoint early Wednesday morning at a local park.
According to the Chapel Hill Police Department, the robbery happened around midnight at Chapel Hill Community Center Park on South Estes Drive.
Investigators said two men told officers that 32-year-old Alexander Quinn Zeman approached them while they were sitting at the park. Court records state Zeman assaulted the men, pointed a gun at them and demanded their keys before stealing their BMW X3 SUV.
Police said the stolen vehicle is valued at at least $25,000.
Authorities said no injuries were reported during the incident.
Later Wednesday morning, officers located the SUV outside Zeman’s residence in Chapel Hill and took him into custody.
Zeman is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault by pointing a gun, larceny of a motor vehicle, possession of a motor vehicle and going armed to the terror of the public.
He is being held without bond and was scheduled to appear in Orange County court Wednesday afternoon.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
