OHIO — A Bellefontaine woman was arrested Friday night after police said she was driving under the influence with a young child in her vehicle.

Officers with the Bellefontaine Police Department were dispatched around 9:32 p.m. after receiving a report of an intoxicated driver traveling between Deercreek Apartments and Varsity Drive-Thru.

Police located the vehicle, identified as a white 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe, outside an apartment at Deercreek Apartments.

Officers identified the driver as 39-year-old Danielle Harrigan. Authorities said Harrigan was sitting in the driver’s seat with the keys in her possession, while a child believed to be about 3 years old was secured in a rear car seat.

According to police, Harrigan admitted to drinking alcohol earlier in the evening. Officers reported smelling alcohol on her and finding empty alcoholic beverage containers inside the SUV.

Police said Harrigan agreed to field sobriety tests, during which officers observed several signs of impairment.

Harrigan was arrested and taken to the Bellefontaine Police Department, where she submitted to a breath test that reportedly showed a blood alcohol content of 0.117, above Ohio’s legal limit of 0.08.

She was cited for operating a vehicle while impaired and open container. Harrigan was also charged with child endangerment and booked into the Logan County Jail.

Police records indicated Harrigan had a prior OVI conviction in 2019.
