MICHIGAN — A Toledo man is in custody after deputies say he led authorities on a high-speed chase through parts of Monroe County early Friday morning.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the 60-year-old man, whose name has not been released, initially fled from Toledo police in a stolen vehicle. Officers discontinued that pursuit when the suspect crossed into Michigan.
A Monroe County sheriff’s deputy later located the vehicle around 12:20 a.m. in a parking lot along Lewis Avenue in Bedford Township. When the deputy attempted a traffic stop, the driver sped away, reaching speeds of approximately 110 mph.
Deputies pursued the vehicle through several townships, including Ida and Raisinville, before the chase came to an end when the driver turned onto West Dunbar Road and drove into a field.
Authorities said the suspect then fled on foot, leading deputies on a brief chase before he was subdued with a Taser and taken into custody.
The man is facing multiple charges, including fleeing and eluding, possession of a stolen vehicle and resisting arrest. Deputies also said he has outstanding warrants in both Monroe and Lucas counties.
No injuries were reported. The incident remains under investigation.
