MISSOURI — Federal, state and local law enforcement agencies said a large-scale warrant sweep across the Kansas City metro area led to nearly 200 arrests and the seizure of drugs, firearms and cash ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
Authorities said officers cleared 442 federal warrants during the operation. Officials said most of the warrants involved people wanted for violent crimes.
Investigators reported seizing approximately 8.8 pounds of fentanyl, 418 pounds of methamphetamine, 52 pounds of ketamine, 15 pounds of MDMA and 6 pounds of cocaine. Authorities also said 247 firearms and more than $460,000 in cash were confiscated.
Federal prosecutors charged 170 people with firearm- and drug-related offenses, according to officials.
Authorities said five people wanted in homicide cases were also arrested during the sweep.
