VIRGINIA — A number of Virginia public school districts are heading into summer break this week, with school calendars showing final student days on either Thursday, May 28, or Friday, May 29, for the 2025-26 school year.
Districts listing Thursday, May 28, 2026 as the final day for students include Prince George County Public Schools. The division’s approved calendar shows students finishing the school year Thursday before summer break begins.
Several other Virginia divisions are scheduled to finish classes on Friday, May 29, 2026. Those include Henrico County Public Schools, where the final day is listed as a student half-day and flexible clerical day for staff.
Many Virginia districts ending this week also have teacher workdays, graduation ceremonies, records days or other end-of-year activities scheduled immediately after students leave for the summer. Other larger divisions across the state, including Fairfax County Public Schools, Prince William County Public Schools and Virginia Beach City Public Schools, are continuing classes into June.
