TEXAS — A review of available 2025-26 Texas public school calendars shows many districts across the state are scheduled to finish classes during May 2026, with several ending before Memorial Day.
Among the earliest May ending dates found was May 13, 2026, listed by Dallas County School District in Alabama for graduation activities, while Texas districts generally end later in May. In Texas itself, many districts are scheduled to conclude classes between May 21 and May 29.
In North Texas, Dallas Independent School District currently lists May 27, 2026 as the final day of school for students on district calendar summaries reviewed online.
Several Texas districts are scheduled to finish earlier. Canyon Independent School District approved a calendar showing May 22, 2026 as the last day of school for students.
In the Houston area, Fort Bend Independent School District approved a calendar ending the school year on the last Thursday in May, which falls on May 28, 2026.
Houston ISD calendar materials reviewed online indicate the district is also expected to conclude classes in late May or early June, depending on campus scheduling and professional development days. One published calendar summary lists June 4, 2026 as the final day for students.
In West Texas, recently approved district calendars show similar timelines. Ector County ISD approved a later calendar for 2026-27 ending May 27, reflecting the region’s preference for late-May conclusions.
Texas school calendars can change because of weather-related closures, state instructional minute requirements or future school board revisions. This review was based on publicly available 2025-26 calendars and district announcements and should not be considered a complete list of every Texas school district.
