KENTUCKY — A review of available 2025-26 Kentucky public school calendars shows many districts across the Commonwealth are scheduled to finish classes during May 2026, with several ending before Memorial Day.
Among the earliest May ending dates found was May 19, 2026, listed by McLean County Public Schools as the final day of school for students.
Several Kentucky districts are currently scheduled to conclude classes on May 21, 2026. Bowling Green Independent Schools lists May 21 as the last day for K-12 students, with employee closing day scheduled for May 22.
In Jefferson County, Jefferson County Public Schools currently lists May 22, 2026 as the final student day on its published 2025-26 calendar. Teacher closing days continue through May 26.
Hardin County Schools also plans to finish the school year on May 22, 2026, according to the district’s approved instructional calendar.
The review also found Grayson County Schools scheduled to conclude classes on May 28, 2026 for K-12 students, while preschool students finish May 21.
Several additional Kentucky districts have approved 2025-26 calendars posted online, including Kenton County School District, Woodford County Public Schools, Washington County Schools, Daviess County Public Schools, Laurel County Schools and Warren County Public Schools, although final student dates were not clearly visible in the search previews reviewed.
Some Kentucky districts, however, are scheduled to continue into June because of weather make-up days or local calendar decisions. Fayette County Public Schools currently lists June 3, 2026 as the tentative final day of school pending confirmation of weather-related make-up days.
The Kentucky Department of Education also publishes statewide school calendar summaries showing approved district instructional calendars across the state.
Kentucky school calendars can change because of weather-related closures, state waivers or future board revisions. This review was based on publicly available 2025-26 calendars and district announcements and should not be considered a complete list of every Kentucky school district.
