KENTUCKY — A monthslong narcotics investigation in western Kentucky has led to several arrests and the seizure of large amounts of methamphetamine, marijuana, stolen firearms and drug paraphernalia, according to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators said the investigation began in February and identified 28-year-old Anthony B. Farmer of Louisville as a suspected source of crystal meth being trafficked in the region.
On May 19, detectives and Kentucky State Police stopped Farmer on Interstate 24 in McCracken County. Authorities said a K-9 alerted to narcotics inside the vehicle, where investigators found more than 500 grams of crystal meth, marijuana, assorted drug paraphernalia and a stolen handgun.
Farmer and passenger Camryn N. Craig, 25, of Clarksville, Tennessee, were arrested and taken to the McCracken County Jail.
Authorities later searched a Hopkinsville residence where the pair had reportedly been staying and found additional narcotics.
Farmer faces charges including firearm-enhanced trafficking in methamphetamine, firearm-enhanced trafficking in marijuana, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, receiving stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Craig was charged with possession of methamphetamine, public intoxication and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Later that day, detectives searched two more properties in McCracken County and recovered additional methamphetamine, synthetic marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a handgun reported stolen during a vehicle break-in earlier this month.
Investigators also found a live artillery shell at one property, prompting assistance from the Paducah Bomb Squad for safe removal and disposal.
Authorities arrested Zackery L. Henley, 38, Delilah N. Mejia-Lopez, also known as Mollie Neal, 30, and Bobby Akins, 40, on charges including possession of methamphetamine, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, receiving stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Mejia-Lopez was also charged as a fugitive from justice on an outstanding Tennessee warrant.
Detectives later found Jackie Henley, 59, and Roy Glisson Jr., 44, allegedly hiding in a detached garage with methamphetamine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a rifle. Both were charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Jackie Henley also faces a firearm possession charge.
On May 20, investigators searched another home in the county and recovered methamphetamine, scales, syringes, plastic baggies and other items associated with narcotics trafficking.
James E. Abanatha, 54, and Carol A. Darnell, 51, were arrested and charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, trafficking in marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The sheriff’s office said the investigation remains ongoing and additional arrests and charges are possible.
