OHIO — Multiple police officers in Cleveland, Ohio have been indicted in separate cases tied to alleged fraud involving a COVID-19 relief program, according to investigators.

Officers with the Cleveland Division of Police are accused of crimes connected to a program intended to help small businesses during the pandemic.

The Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office said a total of eight people have been indicted, though officials noted the cases are separate.

An internal police memo obtained by investigators states that the department’s Internal Affairs Unit launched an investigation following allegations of potential criminal misconduct involving several members of the division. The memo also said a grand jury returned felony indictments against four current officers and four former officers. The four current officers have been placed on unpaid leave.

Those indicted are identified as Andreaa Renshaw, Tamara Smith, Marcelous Fox, Sierra Morris, Terence Rouse II, Ty-Sean Darden, Kimmona Miller and Devon Gresham.

Authorities said the charges include grand theft, telecommunications fraud and tampering with records. Prosecutors said the allegations are tied to fraudulent loans ranging from $15,000 to $21,000.

The cases remain under investigation.
