Missing 2-year-old found unresponsive in creek in Kansas

KANSAS — A missing 2-year-old boy was found unresponsive in a creek near his home early Friday morning after an overnight search involving first responders and volunteers, according to the Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said the search began around 8:45 p.m. Thursday at a residence in the 2100 block of 290 Road in rural Mitchell County after the child was reported missing.

The sheriff’s office said numerous first responders and volunteers joined the search effort, working through the night to locate the boy.

During the early morning hours Friday, searchers found the child unresponsive in a creek near the home.

Officials have not released the child’s identity or provided additional details about his condition.

The incident remains under investigation. Further information is expected to be released as it becomes available.
