MISSISSIPPI — Parts of Mississippi could see isolated severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging wind gusts on Wednesday, according to the Storm Prediction Center.
Forecasters say a cluster of thunderstorms is expected to move across the state and could strengthen as it tracks through southern Mississippi during the morning and afternoon hours.

While wind shear is expected to remain relatively weak, strong thunderstorm updrafts may still produce locally damaging, water-loaded wind gusts. Additional storm development is also possible as the atmosphere becomes increasingly unstable during the day.
The Storm Prediction Center said the greatest severe weather threat nationwide is expected across the central High Plains, but portions of Mississippi remain at risk for isolated severe storms.
Residents are encouraged to stay weather aware and monitor the latest forecasts in case severe thunderstorm warnings are issued.
