GEORGIA — A high-speed police chase that reached 150 mph ended safely in Irwin County with the arrest of a suspected drug dealer, authorities said.
The pursuit involved multiple law enforcement agencies, including the South Central Drug Task Force (SCDTF), Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Irwin County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia Department of Agriculture Investigative Division, and Ocilla Police Department.
The incident began when officers attempted a routine traffic stop. Instead of complying, the suspect, an Ocilla man, sped away, leading police on a dangerous chase through the area.
Law enforcement pursued, and officers ultimately used a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT maneuver) to bring the vehicle to a controlled stop.
After the arrest, authorities found 27 grams of ecstasy in the suspect’s possession.
Officials commended the professionalism of the officers involved, emphasizing the risks associated with high-speed pursuits.
The suspect faces multiple charges, including fleeing from law enforcement and drug-related offenses.
Authorities say they will continue working together to combat drug trafficking and ensure the safety of Irwin County residents.
