OKLAHOMA — Four people were killed and another person was critically injured in a fiery wrong-way crash early Friday morning on Interstate 40 in Canadian County, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash happened around 1 a.m. near Czech Hall Road when a driver traveling west in the eastbound lanes of I-40 collided head-on with another vehicle.
Authorities said the wrong-way driver was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
The four people inside the other vehicle were all killed in the crash. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol identified the victims as 20-year-old Kiercey Hickson, 19-year-old Quincy Jones, 18-year-old Haleigh Salazar and Brad Palmer, who authorities said was either 18 or 19 years old.
Officials said the impact caused at least one of the vehicles to catch fire.
Interstate 40 was closed for more than four hours while emergency crews responded and cleared the scene.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash.
