INDIANA — Four suspects have been taken into custody and federally indicted following a multi-state investigation into an organized burglary ring targeting pharmacies, authorities said.
According to the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation involved agencies from Dearborn County, West Chester, Ohio; Ada County, Idaho; and the Drug Enforcement Administration in St. Louis.
The case began in June 2025 after a burglary at George’s Pharmacy in Bright, Indiana. Investigators from Dearborn County and West Chester soon identified a pattern of similar break-ins occurring across the Tri-State area within a short time frame, leading them to believe an organized group was responsible for stealing narcotics.
As the investigation expanded, authorities linked the group to 10 pharmacy burglaries between Cincinnati and St. Louis in July 2024. Since January 2024, investigators say the organization has been connected to more than 70 burglaries across 12 states, with about 25 individuals identified as key participants.
Officials said surveillance efforts in late 2025 helped track members of the group and provided significant developments, including identifying their methods and shipping practices. Investigators also intercepted about eight pounds of stolen pharmaceuticals during the probe.
In early February 2026, the suspects allegedly returned to the area and committed two more burglaries. Following those incidents, law enforcement attempted a traffic stop, but the suspects fled. Authorities said four individuals were apprehended shortly afterward.
A search warrant led to the seizure of evidence including 11 cell phones, approximately 21 pounds of pharmaceuticals, a pill-counting machine and other materials tied to the operation.
Investigators also said a parallel investigation in Idaho connected similar burglaries in the western United States to the same organization.
The case was presented to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Illinois, which has since secured federal indictments. A federal grand jury has issued arrest warrants for four individuals linked to the group.
Authorities have not released the suspects’ names, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation and sealed indictments. Officials say additional indictments are expected.
