Five people arrested following drug bust in Louisiana

LOUISIANA — A large-scale drug bust in Geismar on Thursday led to five arrests and the seizure of more than $250,000 in cash, firearms and multiple types of narcotics, according to authorities.

The Gonzales Police Department, Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration executed a raid at a home on Cypress Ridge Drive. Investigators said the residence was being used as a hub for a drug operation spanning across the capital region.

During the search, officers seized $257,750 in cash along with a money counter. Authorities also recovered approximately one pound of methamphetamine, two pounds of MDMA, as well as cocaine, marijuana and various opioids. In addition, three handguns, a rifle, an electronic pill press and drug packaging materials were confiscated. Jewelry, including a wristwatch and necklace, was also seized.

Five people were arrested in connection with the investigation: Christopher Whitfield Sr., 45; Christopher Whitfield Jr., 21; Dwan Marshae Pointer, 42; Rhesa Pointer, 44; and Kelby Jacobs, 21.

All five were booked on multiple drug-related charges. Authorities have not released further details, and the investigation remains ongoing.
