
NORTH CAROLINA — A North Carolina fire chief is facing multiple felony charges following an investigation by the Anson County Sheriff’s Office, according to authorities.
William N. Stubbs, who serves as fire chief for the Morven Fire Department, was arrested on April 27. Deputies said the arrest came after an investigation into alleged criminal activity.
Stubbs has been charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, three counts of felony conspiracy, felony trafficking in opioids, and two counts of felony malicious use of explosives causing property damage.
Following his arrest, authorities transported Stubbs to the Anson County Magistrate’s Office, where he was served with the charges. A magistrate set his bond at $42,500 secured.
Officials have not released additional details about the investigation. The case remains ongoing.
