FLORIDA — Police are investigating after a decomposing body was found Wednesday in an upscale waterfront neighborhood in Vero Beach.
Officers with the Vero Beach Police Department said the body was discovered near the 2000 block of Cove Drive in the Riomar Bay neighborhood along the Indian River Lagoon.
Authorities said the body was found in a brush area around noon and was in an advanced stage of decomposition.
Police said investigators do not believe the body is connected to a nearby home or homeowner.
No information about the identity of the deceased has been released.
The investigation remains ongoing.
