
FLORIDA — A bicyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash Tuesday night in Englewood, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers say the crash happened around 8:45 p.m. on San Casa Drive when a Ford E250 panel van traveling south struck a bicyclist who was attempting to cross the roadway. The victim, identified as a 55-year-old Englewood man, died at the scene.
Investigators said the driver fled after the crash, dragging the bicycle underneath the vehicle.
A short time later, authorities located the van at a home on Michigan Avenue with the victim’s bicycle still lodged underneath. The driver, identified as 55-year-old Christopher Lee Flinn, was found at the residence and taken into custody.
Flinn has been charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving death and was booked into the Charlotte County Jail.
The crash remains under investigation.
