
OHIO — An 18-year-old New Philadelphia man died after a two-vehicle crash Sunday evening in Tuscarawas County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at approximately 7:53 p.m. at the intersection of North Orchard Road and Northwood Avenue in Lawrence Township.
According to investigators, a 2019 Ram 1500 was traveling east on North Orchard Road while a 2021 Nissan Altima was traveling north on Northwood Avenue. Troopers said the Nissan failed to yield at the stop sign at the intersection and was struck on the driver’s side by the Ram before leaving the roadway on the north side of North Orchard Road.
The driver of the Nissan, 18-year-old Ridge Reichman of New Philadelphia, was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle, according to the highway patrol. He was transported to Mercy Hospital, where he later died.
The driver and passenger of the Ram were both wearing seat belts and were not injured in the crash.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said alcohol is suspected to have been a factor in the crash.
Bolivar Fire and EMS, Dover EMS, Strasburg EMS, the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office and Keith’s Towing assisted at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
