
TEXAS — Two people were killed and another was critically injured in a wrong-way crash early Thursday morning on Interstate 37 near downtown San Antonio, according to the San Antonio Police Department.
Police said officers began receiving reports at about 2:29 a.m. of a vehicle traveling the wrong way on I-37 near the Interstate 35 interchange. About two minutes later, dispatchers received multiple calls reporting a crash.
Investigators said the wrong-way driver, a woman, collided with two other vehicles. Four people were involved in the crash.
The woman driving the wrong way was pronounced dead at the scene. Another driver became trapped inside a vehicle and later died despite rescue efforts.
A third person was transported to a hospital in critical condition, while a fourth person was not seriously injured.
Police are continuing to investigate what caused the woman to drive the wrong way on the interstate.
