FLORIDA — Two women were killed early Thursday morning after a Tesla crashed into the back of a large truck in Homestead, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 3:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes of South Dixie Highway near Southwest 127th Avenue.

Troopers said the Tesla struck the rear of a truck that was traveling at about 20 mph as part of a caravan of trucks moving slowly through the area. Authorities said the truck drivers had just finished working nearby before the crash.

The two women, who were believed to be in their late 20s or early 30s, were pronounced dead at the scene. Their bodies were removed from the Tesla shortly after 7 a.m.

Investigators have not determined what caused the Tesla driver to crash into the truck. The crash remains under investigation.
