
INDIANA — Authorities are investigating a death after evidence of suspected foul play was discovered in a case linked to a travel center near the Indiana-Ohio state line.
The Wayne County Coroner’s Office said Coroner Brent Meadows was notified Wednesday night of a person who died at Reid Health.
According to the coroner’s office, the investigation into the death revealed evidence indicating foul play was involved. Investigators believe the incident that led to the person’s death may have occurred near the Petro Travel Center on U.S. 40 in New Paris, Indiana, just west of the Ohio state line.
“This is a deeply tragic case, and our thoughts are with the loved ones of the decedent during this difficult time,” said Wayne County Coroner Brent Meadows. “Our office is committed to conducting a thorough and professional investigation alongside our law enforcement partners. We ask for patience and respect as we work to confirm identification and notify family.”
Authorities have not released the identity of the deceased, and the investigation remains ongoing.
