
TEXAS — More than 8,500 utility customers across Texas are without electricity Thursday morning as scattered outages continue across several parts of the state.
According to PowerOutage.us, 8,592 customers are currently without power, affecting about 0.06% of the more than 15.4 million customers tracked statewide.
Tarrant County is reporting the largest number of outages, with 5,701 customers without service. Harris County follows with 1,186 outages, while Midland County is reporting 586 customers without power. Additional outages are being reported in Jefferson County, Brazoria County, Lubbock County, Galveston County and Dimmit County.
Oncor is reporting the highest number of outages among utilities, with 6,383 customers without electricity. CenterPoint Energy is reporting 1,319 outages, while Entergy has 196 customers without service. Rio Grande Electric Cooperative is reporting 146 outages and has the highest percentage of customers affected among major utilities at 1.02%.
Texas currently ranks seventh in the nation for the total number of power outages, according to the outage tracking website.
Utility crews continue working to restore service in affected areas. Residents are encouraged to report outages to their utility provider and avoid downed power lines, which should always be considered energized and dangerous.
