OKLAHOMA — A 70-year-old Oklahoma woman was killed Tuesday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash in Ellis County after a spare tire on her vehicle blew out, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Emergency crews were called to the crash around 3:40 p.m. on June 9 along Highway 15 at North-South 186 Road.
Investigators said Leona Nunez was driving westbound on Highway 15 when the front right spare tire on her vehicle suffered a blowout.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the tire failure caused the vehicle to leave the roadway on the right side and travel through a ditch before striking a tree.
Nunez sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol investigated the incident. No additional information was immediately released.
