GEORGIA — Four people were injured Tuesday afternoon in a multi-vehicle crash in Dodge County that caused a Volkswagen Beetle to catch fire, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
Troopers said the crash happened around 2:05 p.m. in Eastman.
According to investigators, a white Nissan Altima was traveling east on Legion Drive and attempting to turn onto Georgia 87, also known as Griffin Avenue. The Altima failed to yield to a black BMW SUV traveling north on Georgia 87, resulting in a collision between the two vehicles.
The impact caused the Altima to enter the southbound lanes of Georgia 87, where it was struck head-on by a blue Volkswagen Beetle. The BMW then left the roadway and crashed into a utility pole.
State troopers said the collision between the Altima and the Volkswagen caused the Beetle to erupt in flames.
The driver of the BMW was treated at the scene by paramedics. The driver of the Altima and both occupants of the Volkswagen were transported to Dodge County Hospital with injuries.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, all four injured individuals are expected to survive.
The crash remains under investigation.
