WISCONSIN — Multiple people were injured in a six-vehicle crash that closed Interstate 94 northbound in Racine County early Sunday morning.
According to authorities, sheriff’s deputies responded shortly after 4 a.m. to I-94 northbound near State Highway 11 in Racine following reports of a multi-vehicle crash.
Officials said six vehicles were involved in the collision. Scanner traffic indicated that at least one person was trapped inside a vehicle following the crash.
Emergency crews remain at the scene assisting injured victims and investigating the incident.
As a result of the crash, I-94 northbound is currently closed beginning at State Highway 196 (1st Street). Drivers are being diverted off the interstate at 1st Street and can re-enter I-94 at Highway 20.
Authorities have not released the number of people injured or the severity of their injuries.
The crash remains under investigation, and the interstate closure is expected to continue while crews work at the scene.
