SOUTH CAROLINA — The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is investigating after two people were seriously injured in a shooting Friday afternoon in Darlington.

According to Darlington Police Chief Jimmy Davis, the shooting happened shortly after 1:30 p.m. on Guess Street within the city limits of Darlington.

Davis said the incident appears to have been a drive-by shooting.

Two people were struck by gunfire and suffered serious injuries. Authorities have not released the identities of the victims or provided an update on their conditions.

A third person, a man who was riding a bicycle through the area at the time of the shooting, heard the gunshots and attempted to flee. Davis said the man was not hit by gunfire but twisted his ankle while trying to get away. He is expected to be OK.

Investigators are searching for a white car that may have been involved in the shooting.

SLED has taken over the investigation, and authorities have not released information about any suspects.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact the Darlington Police Department at 843-398-4026 or call 911.
