
SOUTH CAROLINA — A Dillon County woman is facing a felony domestic violence charge after authorities said she poured hot cooking grease on her husband during an argument, leaving him with life-threatening injuries.
According to Investigator Derrick Cartwright with the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened shortly after 1:40 a.m. Thursday at a home in the Lake View area.
Authorities said a 44-year-old man suffered serious burns after being doused with hot cooking grease. He was airlifted to a hospital in Charleston for treatment, where his condition was reported as life-threatening.
Cartwright said the husband and wife had been arguing before the incident occurred.
The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Loren Owens, was arrested and charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature.
Owens remains jailed on a $25,000 bond.
The investigation remains ongoing.
