Police searching for escaped inmate in Nebraska

NEBRASKA — Authorities are searching for a Nebraska inmate who was reported missing after failing to return to a Lincoln corrections facility from a job-seek furlough.

According to the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services, Amanda Eckmann, 34, did not return to the Community Corrections Center–Lincoln on Monday afternoon as scheduled.

Officials said Eckmann’s electronic monitoring device was later discovered near North 44th and Superior streets in Lincoln.

Eckmann is serving a sentence for criminal possession of four or more financial transaction devices and possession of a controlled substance. She began serving her sentence in July 2024 and has a tentative release date of Nov. 6, 2027.

She is described as 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighs approximately 120 pounds and has blond hair and blue eyes.

The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services is asking anyone with information about Eckmann’s whereabouts to contact local law enforcement or the Nebraska State Patrol.

The search remains ongoing.
