PENNSYLVANIA — Two people were arrested following a vehicle pursuit and are accused of multiple thefts and break-ins that occurred over more than two weeks in Clearfield County, according to police.
Authorities said the investigation began after reports of retail thefts at a Tractor Supply store on May 13 and May 17. Police said suspects allegedly stole multiple items, including boots, hats, tools and air pistols.
Investigators identified the suspects as Seth Bourlier, 24, and Sydney Peteuil, 25. Police said surveillance footage also captured the pair allegedly stealing merchandise from a Rural King store on May 13.
Shortly after 4:30 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to reports of break-ins at a skills gaming room on West Front Street and the Rainbow 3 Car Wash on Clearfield Shawville Highway.
According to police, officers arrived at the car wash and saw Bourlier and Peteuil running from the building before getting onto a motorcycle with New York registration plates.
Police said officers pursued the motorcycle along Route 879, River Road and Mount Joy Road, where speeds reportedly reached between 60 and 70 mph. The pursuit ended when the motorcycle lost traction and crashed in a grassy area near Mount Joy Cemetery.
Authorities said Bourlier and Peteuil were found with assorted tools and cash. Investigators also determined they had allegedly broken into change machines at the Rainbow 2 Car Wash on Fullerton Street and Lucky Skills and Billiards on Turnpike Avenue.
Court records show both are facing multiple charges, including felony counts of retail theft, receiving stolen property and related offenses.
Bourlier and Peteuil are being held at the Clearfield County Jail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 3.
The investigation remains ongoing.
