MISSISSIPPI — A search is underway after a vehicle reportedly went underwater with a woman inside near the Walmart store in Petal, Mississippi.
Multiple emergency crews responded to the scene Sunday afternoon.
Crews later appeared to find a body outside in the area, though authorities had not confirmed whether it was the woman believed to have been inside the vehicle.
The incident comes as severe weather moved through the region. The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning shortly before 4 p.m. for the city of Petal and parts of Forrest County.
Officials have not released additional details. The situation remains under investigation.
