WISCONSIN — Four people were arrested after a Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office investigation into stolen mail led authorities to a suspected drug house tied to fraud and burglaries.

According to the sheriff’s office, the investigation began about six weeks ago after deputies received multiple fraud complaints involving stolen mail. Detectives said personal and business checks were taken from mailboxes, altered and then fraudulently used to obtain money.

Investigators also uncovered evidence linking several suspects to drug offenses and storage unit burglaries in the Antioch, Illinois, area.

On May 19, members of the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office and the Kenosha Drug Operations Group executed a search warrant at a home on Antioch Road near 112th Street in Trevor.

Authorities said four people were taken into custody: Frank W. McClaughry, Alicia R. Wojtowicz, Thomas D. Wilton and Tammy F. Wilton, also known as Wolbeck.

Detectives said they recovered more than 150 items connected to narcotics distribution, fraud and burglary investigations. Items seized included about 28.3 grams of methamphetamine, 27.3 grams of marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms, MDMA, a small amount of cocaine, altered and fraudulent checks, check-washing materials, burglary tools, identification cards belonging to other people and suspected stolen property.

The sheriff’s office said recommended charges include theft of mail, misappropriation of personal identification materials, possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, maintaining a drug trafficking place and possession of burglary tools.

Anyone who believes they may have been a victim of fraud connected to the investigation is asked to contact the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office nonemergency line at 262-656-1234.
