One person arrested following drug bust in Virginia

VIRGINIA — A woman was arrested after a traffic stop in Botetourt County led to the seizure of more than 80 grams of fentanyl and over 100 grams of methamphetamine, according to authorities.

The Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office said deputies conducted a traffic stop Thursday in the 4000 block of Roanoke Road.

K9 Xena alerted deputies to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle.

During a search of the vehicle, investigators said they found about 109 grams of methamphetamine and approximately 85 grams of fentanyl.

Authorities arrested 41-year-old Shelby Montgomery following the traffic stop.

Montgomery was charged with possession with intent to distribute.

The Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office said the James River Regional Drug Task Force and the Alleghany Highlands Drug Task Force assisted in the investigation.
