GEORGIA — A Bartow County man was arrested on multiple drug charges after police said heroin, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were found during a traffic stop in Cartersville.
Cartersville police initially stopped Jonathan Hillhouse for concealing his license plate.
Investigators said officers noticed the vehicle was heavily damaged and partially disassembled, with exposed wiring near the steering column. During the stop, a large piece of plastic reportedly fell from the vehicle’s roof.
Police said Hillhouse told officers he lived in the vehicle and was on his way to mow a lawn while giving a passenger, identified as Darrell Brock, a ride.
After Hillhouse consented to a search, officers reported finding a glass pipe with burnt residue under the driver’s seat, along with straws, a metal pipe and a glass mirror containing a white powdery substance that later tested positive for methamphetamine.
Authorities also said a syringe hidden inside the driver’s seat tested positive for heroin. According to police, Hillhouse claimed the syringe contained medication for his diabetic brother.
Police said Hillhouse repeatedly told officers he does not use drugs and denied ownership of the narcotics.
Hillhouse was charged with possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of drug-related objects, failure to register a vehicle within the required time and concealing the identity of a vehicle.
Brock was also taken into custody on an outstanding criminal trespass warrant from Bartow County, according to police.
