TENNESSEE — First responders recovered a body from the Cumberland River in downtown Nashville on Thursday afternoon, according to officials.
The Nashville Fire Department and Metro Nashville Police Department responded after a 911 caller reported seeing a body in the water around 12:55 p.m.
Authorities said the body was recovered near downtown Nashville and was taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
Officials have not yet identified the victim, and the cause of death remains under investigation.
The discovery comes days after witnesses reported hearing a man yelling for help in the Cumberland River, though authorities previously said no body was found during that earlier search.
