
KENTUCKY — A woman riding in a horse-drawn carriage died after the carriage was struck from behind by a pickup truck Monday morning in Hart County, according to Kentucky State Police.
Troopers said the crash happened around 8:24 a.m. in the 1600 block of South Dixie Highway.
Investigators said a horse and carriage driven by Melvin Miller, of Horse Cave, was traveling north on South Dixie Highway when it was hit from behind by a 2025 Ford F-250, which was also traveling north.
Sara Miller, 81, of Horse Cave, was a passenger in the carriage. She was taken by Hart County EMS to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Melvin Miller was airlifted to UofL Hospital for treatment of injuries, police said.
Kentucky State Police identified the pickup truck driver as 38-year-old John McBride, of Munfordville.
The crash remains under investigation.
