KENTUCKY — A 19-year-old woman was killed in a head-on collision Saturday night in Bowling Green, according to police.
The crash happened around 9:15 p.m. in the 400 block of Corvette Drive. Authorities said Makyah L. Mackey, 19, of Bowling Green, was taken to The Medical Center for treatment but later died from her injuries.
Police identified the driver of the second vehicle as 20-year-old Dajuan B. Sykes, also of Bowling Green. He sustained only minor injuries in the crash.
According to witnesses, Sykes was attempting to pass another vehicle while traveling through a curve when his vehicle collided head-on with Mackey’s.
Officers suspected Sykes was under the influence at the time of the crash and obtained a search warrant for a blood sample.
Sykes was taken to the Warren County Regional Jail and faces multiple charges, including vehicular homicide, wanton endangerment in the first degree, driving under the influence, reckless driving, trafficking in marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The investigation remains ongoing.
