FLORIDA — All southbound lanes of Florida’s Turnpike are shut down Thursday afternoon following a major crash, causing significant delays during the evening commute.
According to Florida 511, the crash occurred just before Mile Marker 106 near the Beeline Highway exit on Florida’s Turnpike South. Authorities have closed all lanes in the area as emergency crews respond, leading to heavy traffic congestion.
Traffic camera images show all lanes blocked with bumper-to-bumper traffic stretching through the area. Florida 511 classified the incident as a major severity event.
The closure began around 4:03 p.m., and as of the latest update at 4:11 p.m., all southbound lanes remained closed.
Drivers were urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes while emergency responders and road crews worked to manage the scene and begin cleanup efforts. Officials warned that significant delays were expected throughout the afternoon.
