
TEXAS — At least one person was killed in an auto-pedestrian crash Thursday morning in Smith County, authorities confirmed.
The crash occurred along Highway 31 near County Road 24, prompting the closure of the roadway in both directions as emergency crews and law enforcement responded to the scene.
Officials said the incident has been confirmed as fatal, though no additional details about the victim or the driver involved have been released.
Motorists are being urged to avoid the area and use FM 2767, also known as Old Kilgore Highway, as an alternate route while the investigation continues.
