FLORIDA — A 25-year-old man is dead after a vehicle crashed into a canal early Thursday morning in a wildlife refuge area of Brevard County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 2 a.m. along Blackpoint Wildlife Drive, just south of L Pond Road. Troopers said the sedan was traveling northbound when the driver failed to navigate a curve, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway and overturn into a canal.
Authorities said the car became fully submerged, coming to rest on its roof in the water.
The driver, a 25-year-old man from Titusville, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 43-year-old woman who was a passenger in the vehicle was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
