TEXAS — A fatal crash early Thursday morning has shut down all southbound lanes of Interstate 35 near Wells Branch in Travis County, according to authorities.
Deputies with the Travis County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene in the 16100 block of North I-35 southbound. Officials said the crash occurred just before Grand Avenue Parkway.
The Texas Department of Transportation reported that all southbound lanes remain closed as crews continue to work the scene. Traffic camera footage shows significant backups, with vehicles stalled as far north as Old Settler’s Boulevard in Round Rock.
Authorities confirmed the crash is fatal, though no additional information about those involved has been released.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is leading the investigation into the crash.
