MISSISSIPPI — A man was shot while sleeping in his bed early Tuesday morning after gunfire was directed into a home, according to police.
Officers with the Jackson Police Department responded to a residence on Summit Drive around 2:40 a.m.
Police said multiple shots were fired into the home while the victim was asleep. The man woke up after hearing the gunfire and realized he had been struck.
He was transported to a local hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.
Authorities said the motive behind the shooting remains under investigation. No suspect information has been released at this time.
