
NORTH CAROLINA — A 21-year-old man was killed and another person was injured in a double shooting Thursday afternoon in Greensboro, according to the Greensboro Police Department.
Officers responded around 1 p.m. to the 1000 block of Glendale Drive after receiving reports of a shooting.
When officers arrived, they found 21-year-old Malik Emir Baker suffering from gunshot wounds. Police said Baker died at the scene from his injuries.
A second victim was also found injured and was transported to a hospital for treatment. Authorities have not released information on the victim’s condition.
Investigators remained at the scene into Thursday evening collecting evidence and conducting interviews. Greensboro Assistant Chief Ric Alston confirmed that a vehicle involved in a crash at the scene is part of the investigation.
Police have not released any suspect information or said what may have led to the shooting.
Residents described the neighborhood as generally quiet and said they were shaken by the violence. Several neighbors reported hearing multiple gunshots followed by a crash before seeing emergency responders arrive.
