OHIO — A 21-year-old has died after a crash on Interstate 75 in Miami County Saturday night, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The Piqua Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol identified the victim as Yukahn Riffell, 21, of Ansonia. Riffell was pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers said the crash happened around 8 p.m. on June 27 near milepost 75 on northbound I-75.
According to the patrol, a 2010 Freightliner tractor-trailer had pulled onto the right shoulder within a construction zone after experiencing a mechanical issue and was completely out of the active traffic lanes.
Several minutes later, Riffell’s 2005 Chevrolet Impala, which had been traveling northbound on I-75, left its lane of travel, entered the closed lanes within the construction zone and struck the rear of the disabled tractor-trailer.
No other injuries were reported.
