TEXAS — A 17-year-old was killed and four others were injured in a single-vehicle rollover crash early Sunday morning in Abilene, according to police.
First responders were called to the 6500 block of West Lake Road just before 1 a.m. after receiving reports of a crash.
According to the Abilene Police Department, officers found a Toyota RAV4 that had been involved in a rollover collision. The vehicle was occupied by five people at the time of the crash.
Police said four occupants were transported to a local hospital with injuries. A 17-year-old passenger, identified as Michael Menjares, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators determined the SUV was traveling southbound on West Lake Road when it began to swerve to the right, entered a grass drainage ditch and rolled over.
Authorities said alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in the crash at this time.
The Abilene Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
