11 people injured following vehicle crash in North Carolina

NORTH CAROLINA — Eleven people were injured, including two who were airlifted, after a multi-vehicle crash involving an 18-wheeler in Goldsboro on Saturday afternoon, officials said.

First responders were called around 12:47 p.m. to the area of U.S. 70 and North Oak Forest Road following reports of a crash involving multiple vehicles.

According to officials, 11 patients were treated at the scene or transported to nearby hospitals. Two of the injured were flown to ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville.

Authorities have not released information on the conditions of those injured.

Several agencies responded to the crash, including the Goldsboro Police Department, Goldsboro Fire Department, Elroy Fire Department, Wayne County EMS, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
