OHIO — A man wanted in connection with a deadly shooting on I-480 was arrested Friday afternoon by members of the U.S. Marshals led Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF).

Michael Sanchez Roman, 30, was taken into custody at a residence in the 1400 block of E. 221st Street in Euclid.

Roman had been sought by the Bedford Heights Police Department for the February 1, 2025, aggravated murder of 19-year-old Johndiel Sanchez Rivera.

Officers responding to a report of a disabled vehicle on I-480 West near the Aurora Road exit discovered Rivera’s body, which had suffered fatal gunshot wounds.

Investigations later identified Roman and Michael Gabriel Alvarado, 21, as suspects. Alvarado was arrested on February 26.

During today’s arrest attempt, Roman barricaded himself inside the home with a 2-year-old child.

Task force members successfully negotiated his surrender without harm to anyone involved.

U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott emphasized the importance of cooperation during such arrests, saying, “The safest option for these fugitives during an arrest is to comply with our officers’ orders and then everyone involved, including the fugitive, our officers and the public, will be safe.”

The public is encouraged to provide information on wanted fugitives by calling 1-866-4WANTED (1-866-492-6833) or submitting a web tip. Rewards are available for tips, and tipsters may remain anonymous.
