NORTH CAROLINA — Two students were arrested Tuesday morning after authorities said they brought a loaded gun and ammunition onto a high school campus.
According to the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were notified that a 17-year-old and a 14-year-old were in possession of a loaded firearm at T.C. Roberson High School. Law enforcement responded to the scene and took both students into custody.
Officials said multiple officers were dispatched during the incident, but no injuries were reported. All students and staff were safe, and the school continued operating as normal.
“As we continue to investigate the motive, want all of our parents, students, teachers, and staff to know that everyone in the area is safe,” Sheriff Quentine Miller said in a statement. “We know that seeing our deputies respond to any activity near our schools can be alarming and raise questions. We appreciate the partnership BCSO has with Buncombe County Schools and its leadership.”
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not released additional details about possible charges or a motive.
